Blog post 2 - It’s Exam Time…
High school can be a challenging and stressful time for many students, particularly when it comes to keeping up with assessments and tests. This past week, I had a particularly busy schedule as I worked to complete all of my assessments and tests for my classes at my Catholic high school in Australia. While it was certainly a demanding week, I learned a lot about how to approach this kind of workload and how to manage my time effectively.
One of the most important lessons I learned this week was the importance of not leaving things until the last minute. This can be a tempting strategy when you have a lot of work to do, but in my experience, it only makes things more difficult in the long run. By starting early and chipping away at tasks a little bit at a time, I found that I was able to stay on top of things much more effectively than when I waited until the last minute. Additionally, by giving myself plenty of time to review and edit my work, I was able to produce higher-quality assignments than I would have otherwise.
Another important strategy that helped me get through this busy week was staying organized. By keeping track of all my deadlines and breaking down larger assignments into smaller, more manageable tasks, I was able to approach each day with a clear plan of what I needed to accomplish. This helped me avoid feeling overwhelmed and allowed me to make steady progress toward my goals.
There were many other helpful tactics but one more was staying focused and minimizing distractions. When I sat down to work on an assignment, I made a conscious effort to avoid distractions like social media, my phone, or TV shows. This allowed me to be more efficient with my time and made it easier to stay on task. Of course, taking breaks is also important to avoid burnout, but I made sure to schedule them into my day so that I didn't get carried away and lose focus.
Lastly, it was important for me to remember to take care of myself during this busy time. This meant getting enough sleep, eating healthy foods, and exercising regularly. When we are stressed and under pressure, it can be easy to neglect our physical and mental health, but doing so only makes things worse in the long run. By prioritizing my well-being, I found that I was better equipped to handle the demands of my schoolwork and maintain a positive attitude.
Overall, this past week was a challenging but valuable experience. By approaching my workload with a proactive and organized mindset, I was able to get through a lot of work without feeling overwhelmed or burned out. While there will always be busy times in life, I now feel more confident in my ability to handle them effectively and stay on track toward my goals.
